Gravesend Town Pier Pontoon

New All-Tide Pontoon at Gravesend
Located on the south bank of the River Thames, Gravesend is an historic gateway to the Port of London and approximately half way between the Thames Estuary and Tower Bridge - the distance in either direction being that which most craft can comfortably achieve on a tide.
Connected to Gravesend's historic Town Pier, the new pontoon will provide berthing and passenger access for the Gravesend-Tilbury Ferry from April 2012 and is designed to accommodate use by a range of other visiting commercial and leisure craft. Fully accessible, all-tide access with power and water.
Specification:Pontoon River face - For use by larger vessels, including ferries, small cruise vessels, Thames barges etc.
Up to 40 metres in length
Max draft 4 metres
Pontoon Shore-side face - For use by yachts and smaller leisure craft
Up to 12 metres in length
Max draft 2 metres
Also available:
All tide buoy moorings - fore and aft, adjacent to Gravesend Town Centre, 300 metres from shore. Suitable for a variety of craft up to 30m, maximum draft of 2.5metres
Half tide quay moorings - at St Andrew's Quay - 100 metres of quayside, adjacent to Gravesend Town Centre and available for flat bottomed or bilge keel craft able to take the ground for half the tide.
Marina Moorings - at the Embankment Marina - accessed at high water

The pontoon has been funded by iTransfer www.itransfer.eu an INTERREG IVB North Sea Region Programme, Gravesham Borough Council, Kent County Council and the South East England Development Agency and led by the Institute for Sustainability. The project is being Managed by architects Thomas Ford & Partners and construction work was contracted to Dean and Dyball Civil Engineering Ltd.
